I heard that they are now awarding all soldiers diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D.) the purple heart. They said war wounds can heal but P.T.S.D. can stay with someone for a lifetime. Has anyone else heard this? Please list sources so I can reasearch!!!

Reply:You kinda heard it backwards.....
If a veteran is filing for VA benefits and is claiming PTSD as one of his conditions, they have to "prove a stressor". In other words, they have to have some type of proof, usually available through searches the VA does when provided the necessary information. There are a few exceptions to this rule of verifying a stressor and one of them is if the veteran had received the purple heart. If they did receive one, they do not have to worry about proving the stressful event because the purple heart "proves" you were in one based on the criteria to receive one in the first place.
Reply:The words "I Heard . . ." have no factual meaning unless you present documentary evidence to back it up.
It rates up there with "What if . . ."
To award the Purple Heart for P.T.S.D. it would have to be open to American Veterans back as far as WW II %26amp; Korean Veterans and not just Vietnam Veterans, the cost alone to the US taxpayer would be prohibitive.
Reply:Post Transmitted Sexual Diseases should not have the status of a Purple Heart
