Is there a database online where I can check to see if in fact someone did receive a purple heart for military service ??

I am not sure if their is a complete database available but you may want to try the link listed below, to get you started plus it gives details on the hows, why's, what paper work is given when someone is given the Purple Heart and so on. Most states have chapters of the "Military Order of the Purple Heart" and see if your state has a chapter. Hope this info helps!
