Just heard U.S. Representative Murtha on the McLaughlin Report.
A Marine who lost his hands and blinded disarming and explosive (friendly fire) in Iraq was refused the Purple Heart, Murtha told the Marine Commandant if he doesn' t give this Marine a Purple Heart, that he'd give him one of his. He got his Purple Heart.
Another Marine who lost his foot and blinded and after released from Walter Reed Hospital went to John Hopkins for his eyes and is now being dunned by a collection agency for non-payment, his father is in jail and mother is unemployed.
So you want a Purple Heart, yes or no?
Here's the one I thought was bad: Lieutenant Rebrook got a bill when discharged for $700 to cover the loss of the armor he ruined by bleeding all over it when he got shot.
Reply:IMHO, nobody really WANTS a Purple Heart because you have to be injured in order to get one. But keep in mind that a medal is not all you'll get from the US military if you're injured in the line of duty. The US military has the best benefits of any military in the world.
Reply:It would be honorable to recieve a purple heart for bravery and injury while serving for your country. Sure, a medal doesn't make up for the lost hand or foot or sense of sight, but it's the thought behind it that counts I guess.
Course, if the stuff about John Kerry is true, I should be getting one in the mail any day now for my papercut. :-)
Reply:no because a puple hearth means something bad has hapened to u and they are giving it to u for ur bravery.
