John Kerry (D Mass) self inflicted wounds = Purple Hearts is he one of the Phony Soldiers that Rush spoke of?

No, Rush was talking about people who claimed to have served in Iraq when they have never served in military or served for a short period of time and never came close to Iraq. John Kerry actually went to Vietnam, I guess he does qualify as a real soldier.

John Kerry (D Mass) self inflicted wounds = Purple Hearts is he one of the Phony Soldiers that Rush spoke of?
You Purple-Heart-Bandaid people need to decide if you hate the military or not, and quit inventing little excuses for singling out real soldiers for slander while supporting hypothetical soldiers.

What pixie cut is best for heart shaped faces?

At the moment, my hair is similar to my avatar's. I'm looking for a radically new and different hairstyle. I've had purple hair, blue hair, scene/emo hair, but never a classic pixie. I would love to have the haircut that Rihanna has. http://www.hair.becomegorgeous.com/celeb...

thanks!

I say do the one Rihanna has %26amp; put a stripe of color on the front bang. It would be cute!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Jim Webb vs Jon Mccain who is the more decorated war hero?

Obama my pick sen.Jim Webb as vice president who was awarded

Navy Cross

Silver Star

Bronze Star (2)

Purple Heart (2)

Is this more decorated then Jon Mccain

Silver Star

Legion of Merit

Distinguished Flying Cross

Bronze Star

Purple Heart

Prisoner of War Medal, they both are annapolis graduates but webb also holds a law degree from georgetown and was former secratary of navy.

Jim Webb vs Jon Mccain who is the more decorated war hero?
Based on decoration, it would be McCain, but you're splitting hairs.

Also, being a POW for six years and refusing to leave until those who were there longer are allowed to leave kind of bumps McCain up a few notches.

Besides the fact that you cant really compare purple hearts.. mccain has one, but was probably injured alot more over his six years in captivity.

But both are heroes so what does it matter?
Reply:McCain even thou Webb was a Marine and i luv the USMC.

Pilots are the bigger heros since theyre the ones droping bombs to help support the infantry like Webb. Its also harder to be a pilot and they also take the most risk.

McCain was also sot down and become a POW for 6 yrs. He was basiclly a POW for the whole war and didnt have a chance to gain alot of medals.
Reply:Mccain straight up, he was offered special treatment cause they knew his father was an admiral, but Mccain denied it. He also was in the conditions for lot longer than Webb. His hair today is snow white because of the lack of nourishment in his captivity. this is also coming from a Virginian with Webb as his senator.
Reply:Doubtful, Webb also said Women who join the military are just Horny for guys

Wrote an article called "Women cant fight"

He has a record of demeaning statements against women in the Military and in general

He also let his aide get arrested for carrying webs handgun through security at the capitol. he let the guy twist for weeks before owning up to it

That wont go over well in Campaign ads
Reply:Both are great heros as is Day and Mike Thorton

When the chest is full of medals they get more respect than when you only have a few like me. At least I give it to them. Dont know about other vets, BUT when I see the CMH

I am awed
Reply:IMO, they're both as decorated. Do real veterans really judge each other's service by the number and type of medals they wear?
Reply:your question of who is more decorated, they seem to be equally decorated,,,

Have you heard of a 101st Airborne Soldier being wounded 4 times during Operation Iraqi Freedom?

Soldier has been awarded 4 Purple hearts and Bronze Star. Was shot three time, once on convoy, once while doing PT, once by an terp on Christmas and was hit with a grenade. Who is this guy?

Have you heard of a 101st Airborne Soldier being wounded 4 times during Operation Iraqi Freedom?
Petty Officer Nathanie Leoncio 3 purple hearts and a Bronze Star

How can so many people call John Kerry a coward/unpatriotic?

I actually don't like John Kerry, but how can so many call him a coward/unpatriotic? He fought in Vietnam and then protested the war. That's his right and a lot of terrible things did happen in Vietnam. People criticized his purple hearts and how he got them. Well at least he served. Bill Clinton (I like him, but he was a draft dodger) and Bush (Let's face it, he used daddies influence to get out of his obligations) never served in a war time capacity. Also, I doubt most of you giving him a hard time, ever served yourselves.

How can so many people call John Kerry a coward/unpatriotic?
it seems those who actually think so are mostly the republicans who are on a different page politically...they're attempts to pounce on kerry's badly worded barb agains bush didnt do anything to stem the democratic victory wave....kerry's misfortune is in his timing since most americans were still strongly supporting bush's effort in iraq in 2004 as opposed to the current situation.....
Reply:You are right he is a vet, and so am I. What he said is very disturbing because it shows a cycle of hate Kerry shows for our troops. Back in the 70's Kerry turned his back on the same people that fought along beside him, with lies and slander. His awarding of the purple hearts are flawed. They were given to him and not earned. And lastly Kerry calling our troops uneducated is very disgraceful!!!! This pattern of slurring our troops and then saying "that is not what I meant" is getting old!!!!

Today is Veteran's Day let's remember all who served!!!
Reply:It's easy to call John kerry a coward and unpatriotic because he has publicly given us all the evidence showing us just that. kerry did 4 months in Vietnam and used the system to not only get out but give him medals. He is what we real veterans call a skate. I have no respect for that cowardly traitor and he should have been brought up on charges and prosecuted as a traitor and shot.

Happy birthday Andy g and all other marines

Your a liberal pink-o commie rat!!!
Reply:They don't understand him. He is an extremely intelligent man and has many wonderful ideas for this country. If you ever listen to a full speech by him or watch him being questioned you will see this. He over speaks the American people I think. They just seem to like Bush down home good old boy speak better for some reason. It was frightening how Rove could turn John Kerry into a traitor, when he served in Vietnam and they could actually get away with mocking it. Bush never saw combat, had his dad pull strings to get him out of it, and Cheney got deferment after deferment.
Reply:well he wouldnt open his milatary records to the public like bush did . and lots of vet came forward and said his purple heart was for a very small injury to his butt . while guys without both legs where accepting purple hearts he was writeing himself up for one for such a small injury . he was setting himself up for a life of politics from the beginning and had to give up his commisson in the navy . he was stoping his swift boat for photo ops for him putting his whole boat in danger
Reply:Most of the neocons that call him a coward, and unpatriotic, NEVER served in the military themselves.

It is ironic to call a Vietnam vet a coward, and a total shame.
Reply:John Kerry, Bill Clinton, George Bush..... it doesn't matter, they are all members of secret societies and are in power to serve their masters, not the people, they're all members of skull and bones and other organisations intent on creating a one world government.

The dude has been bashing our troops for 30 years, but seeing your name period represents a coward, I can see why you would defend him..
Reply:You say that it was his right to protest the war in Vietnam, and you are correct.

What does it mean, precisely, to say that it was his right to protest the war? It means that under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, the government:

1. could not lawfully prevent him from protesting before he did so;

2. could not lawfully stop him from protesting after he had begun and before he had finished doing so; and

3. could not lawfully punish him for protesting after he had finished.

What it does not mean is that his fellow-citizens are prohibited from criticizing him for protesting; for that is their right, which has equal standing with his right to protest.

He of course is then free, as are you and anyone else on his behalf, to criticize those who have criticized him. And so on; and so on; and so on. This is how freedom of speech works.

Why Did The Liberal Media Always Like McCain, But Not Bigger Conservative War Heroes?

Duke Cunningham "was one of the most highly decorated United States Navy pilots in the Vietnam War, receiving the Navy Cross once, the Silver Star twice, the Air Medal 15 times, and the Purple Heart for wounds he received under enemy fire."

Why Did The Liberal Media Always Like McCain, But Not Bigger Conservative War Heroes?
Because he is more liberal than the die-hard Rebubs. Duh.

What do you think of General Wesley Clark as a potential presidential candidate?

General Wesley K. Clark (U.S.A., Retired), former Supreme Allied Commander of Europe, retired as one of the nation's most highly decorated military officers since General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

His leadership experiences have taken him from Vietnam to Latin America and ultimately to the position of NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, where he led a unified force to victory in NATO's first major combat action. Clark commanded all NATO forces to success in the important Kosovo conflict, saving 1.5 million Albanians from ethnic cleansing without a single Allied casualty.

Among his many military decorations, Clark is a four-star general who has been awarded the Silver Star, five Defense Distinguished Service Medals, four Legion of Merit Awards, two Army Distinguished Service Medals, two Bronze Star Medals and the Purple Heart.

In addition to numerous civilian honors, General Clark has been received more than 20 major international awards including honorary Knighthoods from the British and Dutch governments and was made a Commander of the French Legion of Honor.

What do you think of General Wesley Clark as a potential presidential candidate?
Yeah, but what has he done LATELY? (Kidding)

Seriously this is a serious fella. I truly believe if Clark were in charge there, we would NOT be in Iraq and the Taliban in Afghanistan would be a dim memory at this point, Osama bin Laden would be rotting in a Miami jail cell next to Manuel Noriega and possibly the US would heading to a REAL end to this 8 year "economic downturn" we've been "enjoying" since Bush quadrupled the National Debt.

Can he fix EVERYTHING the Republicans have screwed up in the last 7 years? Doubtful, but I would be willing to let him try.
Reply:He'd be a fine president. Unfortunately, we're living in the era of TV where qualifications and experience take a back seat to charisma.
Reply:He's not my guy and couldn't get elected, IMO. Yes, he's an accomplished military man, but in terms of public policy, I don't see what he brings to the table that isn't already available in other candidates. I felt the same in 2004.

I really don't think "military" is the missing ingredient in presidential politics these days.
Reply:I think Bert hit the nail on the head. I believe it would take

Jesus Christ to fix the mess that Bush is going to leave behind. I just wonder how when the economy does tank

they are going to blame it on Clinton.
Reply:To this conservative crowd they wouldn't like him. But he is smart and he has some good ideas but I feel that he would not make it as a presidential candidate, they would hold his being a Rhodes Scholar from Arkansas against him, but maybe some place in an administration...that's where I see him.

See I told you. But How many of you have read his books "Waging Modern War " and "Winning Modern War" ?They aren't great but they give you insights into his thoughts on terrorism
Reply:He's a very brave, intelligent and honorable man. He's a proven, qualified leader. He's served his country all his life. His views seem rational and well within reason....... they'd never let him be president.
Reply:I liked Ike or I did when I read about him in history books. I was just born. With the right supporting cast I like him and might even vote for him
Reply:I liked him when he tried in 2000 or was it 2004, can't remember now. He's a steady man, he knows what's what militarily but in the Dem field he doesn't stand a chance. Maybe he'd make a good DOD minister.
Reply:I'm not too up on his politics, but he understood that the Iraq war was going to be a disaster - like many of his contemporaries did. I don't think he can win.
Reply:He's a political perfumed prince (Car Salesman) He failed last time, and wouldn't fare any better now.
Reply:I don't.
Reply:He is the most disingenuous, plain vanilla, hand puppet of a man I have ever seen in my life. wouldn't get my vote for any reason.
Reply:As Eisenhower proved, it is good to have a military man at the "helm'. I would definitely go for him!
Reply:oh puhleeeeeze. clark is a liberal joke even worse then mcgovern.
Reply:No way
Reply:Sorry I wouldn't vote for him. I served in Vietnam under him and no way do we need to promote him to commander in chief. Better he just stays retired.
Reply:No, One or two throughout history was enough. Example. Ike. A great General, a very poor do nothing Prez.

For Police Officers? Do POWs and Purple Hearts get tickets?

I go out of my way to avoid doing it. Same with Vietnam and Iraq veterans.

Normally I offer my thanks and a handshake, and send them on their way.

So far, that's worked. I'd hate to think the day may come when it won't.

For Police Officers? Do POWs and Purple Hearts get tickets?
This is a good question. I am an Army Military Policeman and I am curious as to how civilian police react to POW's and Purple Heart recipients. Or maybe those who have Medals of Honor. Me personally, I would express my gratitude and let them go.
Reply:Depends, most would not get out of DUI or something seroius
Reply:Tickets yes. I would not even stop someone with a vetern or purple heart license plate. Same goes for I would not write another cop, fireman or active military.
Reply:Although I'm not a police officer and the Cops are most deffinetly not my freinds I'd say unless its a seriuos violation they get off with a warning and a hand shake of respect.
Reply:Unless it's a serious violation, I always gave a professional courtesy.
Reply:id'e imagine purple hearts normally get off with a warning

What else will Clinton claim to have done? Will she ever tell the truth?

Okay so we know that she brought peace to Ireland and won a purple heart, is it true that she was the first person to land on the moon?

She was useless as a First Lady and now thinks that lies will boost her credibility - what a disaster!

What else will Clinton claim to have done? Will she ever tell the truth?
she brought an end to arpartheid in south africa and the fall of the berlin wall...didn't you know??? she is sooooo desperate she will try and get away with as many lies as possible...and acting all forgetful when caught out is not good...who on earth wants a leader with early on-set dementia??? she is one sad desperado...
Reply:Walking on water? turning water into wine? it does make you wonder what lies....sorry, "mis-speak" she will say next.

She's a Democrat and therefore devoid of any capability to tell the truth.
Reply:Ok, we all know that politicians bend the truth to suit there own ends.

But did Clinton really think that pretending to be shot at at a well publicised event (which it was) would not be checked out? She is claiming that militants tried to murder the First Lady of the US of A! We would have heard about this Hilary!

As for peace in Northern Ireland - she turned up and shook some hands!

Either she is very stupid (I doubt that) or she considers the US public so low in intelligence that they would not notice.
Reply:she is as creditable as Obama in his claims that his reverend did not have an impact on him or that he never supported the war and did not vote for it of course he did not he was not allowed to do so as a citizen and not a senator, so one is as bad as the other but at least she did not say I never sat in on one of the Reverend's anti American sermons something so easily proven to be false
Reply:She is a democrat..nuff said.
Reply:No First Lady ever was useless....they all have specific duties. And let's just say that she "exaggerates" greatly when it comes to her "sniper" expereience, huh? It is the name of the game to push things in order to be more "electable", and she went definitely too far with that one--because guess what? As a mother do I ask what kind of mother would take her 13 year old into a "war zone".....
Reply:well lets see,.....she said she was named after Sir Edmond Hillary, we know that was a lie, because Sir Edmond was not even known by the public when Hillary was born,.....we were told by her, Hillary, that Chelsea was jogging near the World Trade Center the day it was hit, we now know that was a lie,.....Hillary was dodging sniper bullets in Bosnia, we now know that was a lie,.....maybe she will tell us next, she flew the aircraft that dropped the nuke on Japan,.....
Reply:She's a politician! why on earth do you expect to hear the truth from any politician?
Reply:There are more. She gave Chelsea to the world " a picture perfect"
Reply:Do any politicians tell the truth?

What would be the best thing to do as a Marine Corps infantryman veteran with two combat tours?college or job?

If I go to college what's the best career move? If I'm looking for a job without college, what is my best bet? Does anyone know what benefits are out for for having a purple heart?

What would be the best thing to do as a Marine Corps infantryman veteran with two combat tours?college or job?
Both... Get a job and while working go to college while getting VA benefits for college. A college degree lasts a lifetime and along with your military service opens a lot of doors for you. A job is just a job and they come and go. Do what interests you and study for a degree in a field that has a future. It may sound boring but accountants are in high demand as are engineers, medicine, and several other fields. If you find out college isn't your cup of tea, and it's not for everyone believe me, then consider a job driving long distance big rigs. Owner/operators make really good money(I'm talking $100k + a year) and company drivers still make decent wages and bennies. A new driver can earn approx. $40k a year with benefits to start. You need to get your Class A license and the VA will pay for truck driving school too. Commercial truck drivers are in high demand too, especially if you have a military backround like yours.
Reply:knowing what I know now I'd pick college first. Career studies, try to find something you enjoy doing.
Reply:if u want a job without college go to the police academy. a purple heart is very commendable. it shows your true bravery if you do want to go college you can have all kinds of doors opened for you because of your military past.
Reply:College will be the better choice, by far. You can get the GI Bill to pay for your schooling and your Marine discipline should make you an excellent student. Your career choices after college will be far more open than if you get a "blue-collar" job, will pay more, and will offer much better benefits (medical, vacation, etc). As far as the PH goes, I think there is a scholarship just for PH recipients. Ask about it when you inquire about the GI Bill.

And thank you for your service to our country.
Reply:Hey man I was an Army infantryman so I know what you are thinking right now. I will tell you what I decided, you paid in to the GI Bill you only have 8 years to use so go ahead and go to school. Even a little college will help you down the road
Reply:college the best career move would be law informant looking for a job without college swat..
Reply:Unless if organized crime is looking for goons and hitmen

your Infantry skills will be hard to use in the civilian world.

Try College - Criminal Justice degree and Police work? or even a lawyer!

Look for a job with the government DoD,VA, State
Reply:the heart will get you bennies at the V A
Reply:It kind of depends on where you want to go with your life. There are lots of jobs that don't require a college degree. On the other hand, the kind of jobs you get with a degree are usually cleaner and easier physically. We need a lot of engineers right now, as well as other scientific specialties. For non-college jobs, we need ten janitors for every computer programmer, so you might start out with an individual cleaning service and work it up into a company.
Reply:I went Law Enforcement, then moved along into a good career in Civie life in Mgmt! Nothing will stop you with a Jar Head background. I have met too many college educated idiots to put much stock in a sheepskin, but it helps pave the way! You got the best College education in the world from the Marines, so go forth a multiply!! USMC 60-68
Reply:The purple heart and serving in the military will not get you anything. If you have the opportunity to go to college and get a degree that is what will carry you through your whole career.

How many people know someone maybe a neighbor, relative, or friend,?

who worked for maybe 50 years, without healthcare, perhaps may have fought for their nation, purple heart for being wounded, but did not have a retirement plan and rely on Social Security? Now the question, some Politicians, and some people on here do not think those people should be entilted to a stimulus check because they no longer pay taxes, they are suffering from the same increases in fuel and all related price increases, so in your opinion shoud they receive the same as the people who are receiving the benefits of their efforts inbuilding this great nation?

How many people know someone maybe a neighbor, relative, or friend,?
Thats life. Some people are getting more of a check then others. I saw on the news, some people who paid a lot of taxes are getting $75,000. Should I expect that much also? I go to work every day. Why do they get more then me?

The bottom line is, this is refund check for tax payers. While I feel for the people you describe, this is not free money the government is handing out. It is a refund.
Reply:Should you get a rebate on a new computer if you don't buy that computer? No. Same for the TAX REBATE. If you don't pay taxes, how can you get a rebate?
Reply:"Cry me a river..." Now we have the Harry Reid talking points to direct more money to the richest members of our society, the elderly.

Why? They vote in mass.
Reply:I would much rather see them get the rebate than those who don't pay taxes.

But we need to remember that this is a stimulus package - and its goal is to make the economy better, not to help individuals.

How is it ethical for politicians to get a pay raise when the VA is in such dire straights?

Veterans deserve the best and should come first , before welfare, and yes even before the economy. A purple heart should earn you care for the rest of your life!!!including income even if you can earn it yourself.

http://www.youtube.com/johnmccain

How is it ethical for politicians to get a pay raise when the VA is in such dire straights?
The cost of living increase for disabled veterans (COLA) for 2008 was only 2.2% (depending on disability rating %26amp; no. of dependants) the highest increase could adv. $79 dollars a month, while congress made their’s 2.5% which is $4,100 a year, about $433 dollars a month. They will now receive salaries of $169,300 for 2008 and will continue to collect this same salary for the rest of their life even in retirement and will continue to receive the best medical care and medications available. Congress knows all veterans are given the cheapest generic drugs available, even when a more expensive medication is proven to be more effective and beneficial. Veterans are paying eight dollar co-pay at the VA while Wal-Mart is charging four dollars for the same amount of these generic medications. Congress has no ethic’s when their moral principals allows them to vote for themselves’ first!

And last month they did this:

**# Our democrat congress took the needed additional $3.7 billion in funding away from the VA’s 2008 proposed budget, and replaced it with their own personal PORK. It now sits alone and requires a separate signature from President Bush as $3.7 billion in “emergency funding” for Veterans Affairs. It seems congress even forgot to declare the “emergency” or request emergency funding.

And thank you President Bush for letting us know that you will be signing this emergency funding when you return on the 16th.

Now for the worst part, which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that this congress has no ethics?

The fiscal year for 2008 runs from September 31st 2007 to September 30th 2008. September 31st 2008 starts the new fiscal year for 2009.

The VA budget should have been passed for the start of this fiscal year which started September 31s 2007. We are now a few days away from the end of first quarter of this fiscal year—4 months on January 31st, (sept 31st 2007 to jan 31st 2008) a quarter of the year with no funding. When the budget is passed we will have lost the funding which should have been spent during these four month’s. The VA has lost the funds for the first quarter of the year, which they (congress) knew was desperately needed to help us Veterans. The VA budget which was only 1.15% of the total federal budget spent in the fiscal year of 2007 (sept. 31st 2006 to sept. 30th 2007) was appox. 80.6 billion. 80.6 billion is 1.15 percent of the total 2.77 trillion dollars budget spent in fiscal year 2007.

I am trying to point out that almost one quarter of the 87 billion budget for 2008 is already lost these last four months, so this extra 3.7 billion that congress originally gave us as additional funding and then took it away (for themselves)**# and made it emergency funding is STILL LEAVING THE VA VERY SHORT OF FUNDING. And congress knew just what they where doing!

I'm so sorry I couldn't make this shorter, if I lost anyone here, just e-mail me.
Reply:I agree with you 100% Our elected leaders are all scumbags who should be tar and feathered then flogged for giving themselves a pay raise while our Vets are not getting the well deserved care at VA Hospitals such as Walter Reed they so honorably earned.
Reply:I agree. I saw that Congress, indulgently, voted themselves another pay raise. Isn't it interesting that they are so non-partisan when it involves their own interests.
Reply:It is not!

Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:

He has never voted to raise taxes.

He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.

He has never voted to raise congressional pay.

He has never taken a government-paid junket.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.

He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Reply:McCain is not my candidate, but I respect the hell he went through as POW. But let's not this blind us. The experience of war is not a big plus in a resume. It's patriotic, no doubt, but military personnel go through extreme trauma if they see combat. It screws up your head in a real bad way. Therefore, I don't understand why the promotion of war, instead of the promotion of Peace is preferred?

And since you brought up the issue of the Purple Heart... I feel I owe it to one of the best friends I've had, a proud holder of a Purple Heart, who said to me when I asked him what he had done. "What did I do? I survived." His name was Homer Click and he died of Agent Orange in 2000.

I do agree with you. Start at the local level voting out everyone in office. They haven't done their job. Election time vote everybody out of office.

Is there a scholarship for my situation?

I have heard word of a children getting Scholarship money if one of their parents recieved the Purple Heart... My step dad was shot in the face while in Iraq during a 15 month deployment... He won the purple heart, he was originally slated to be there 12 months but only several days before returning President Bush extended the 1st Armored Divison's stay by 3 months... That is when he was shot, after the extension occured... 1st Armored also recieved almost all of its casualties after the extension... Including one of my step dads best friends, Sgt. Eric Petty... My step dad is active duty in the US Army, and he is back in Iraq now, in the 3rd month of another 12 month deployment. This time with the 82nd Airborne.... I want to know how I can apply for these scholarships, how much money I get from them, what colleges they apply to and the like... Thanks for the help!

Is there a scholarship for my situation?
I'm not personally sure about these scholarships, but a great website to research all kinds of scholarships is

www.fastweb.com

You can fill out all of the information on the site. There are special questions about the military status of your parents, and the search engine will narrow down the results to what you are eligible for.
Reply:I'm not sure about this... but there's this website (fastweb.com) you can sign up for that has information on all kinds of scholarships. They will also send you emails when new scholarships have been posted and deadlines and everything!

Looking for answers about military backpay paid to all veterans.?

I recently learned about a man who received a check from the VA for his military service. He had been out of the military nearly 40 years, but the check was retroactive for 19 years, which is the maximum. He now receives a monthly check.

I have 2 brothers who were in Viet Nam. One was wounded and received a Purple Heart. The other was a gunner on a helicopter. Both saw ungodly horrors.

What is this money that I have been told they are entitled to and what do we have to do to get it?

Looking for answers about military backpay paid to all veterans.?
They may have received back pay under the Concurrent Receipt laws.

Used to be law that you could not receive VA disablity and retired pay at the same time. If entitled to both, you gave up dollar for dollar retired pay for VA disability pay, which is tax free.

Under new laws if you are 80-100% disabled from injuries as a result of combat action, you are entitled to both.

There is a limit to the catch up time. They are slowly working there way through the back log of applications for catch up pay.
Reply:This is an old scam. The VA does not issue back pay. They do not pay you once you are out.

Why do republicans call Kerry a wimp he has two Purple hearts how many does Bush have?

They see black as white and white as black. Their brains are wired backwards.

Bush ignored a memo titled "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Within the US" and they blame Clinton.

Bin Laden hasnt been caught and they think Bush is tough on terrorism.

etc.

Why do republicans call Kerry a wimp he has two Purple hearts how many does Bush have?
Because they manipulated the information to say what served them best at the time, which of coourse was a bald faced bunch of lies, as any honest objective person can easily see. It is about controlling the message with smoke, mirrors, "the big lie" theory (if you repeat it enoough, people will believe it), and fear. It is not about what our founding fathers would have wanted for us.
Reply:Because Kerry first supported the war and the patriot act whenever things were hot and heavy, now that something is being done about the war on terror, he is no longer supporting the war on terrorism in order to get a bunch of hippie and islam liberal votes, so that he can try to get into office
Reply:I learned 2 things from the Republicans in the last election.

1. Support our troops. No matter what.

2. A purple heart doesn't mean a thing. They hand them out like cookies.
Reply:Because the American people sat back and let them....

Shame on us.
Reply:Kerry also has three yellow moons, four blue stars and 1 green clover. Congradulations on the Lucky Charms. He has proven he can't duck. NEXT.
Reply:The Swift Boat Vets revealed Kerry didn’t deserve the first of three Purple Heart medals he got because his “injury” was from a tiny fragment of shrapnel that resulted from him firing an M-79 grenade launcher against the nearby shore from the deck of his boat. The former Navy commander said Louis Letson, the base physician, saw Kerry and used tweezers to remove a tiny piece of shrapnel – about 1 centimeter in length and 2 millimeters in diameter – from the lieutenant j.g.’s (junior grade) forearm.

“Letson confirmed that the scratch had been self-inflicted when Kerry clumsily used the M-79.”
Reply:Kerry would have had more purple hearts but they ran out of band aids.
Reply:I believe we would have been better off having him rather than Bush for sure!
Reply:ZERO .when we go to war in iran will dick cheney get another deferment and will pres.bush patrol the texas skies ?
Reply:BUSH HAS AN AWOL, A DUI, AND A COKE DISTRIBUTION.
Reply:Purple Hearts are an indication of getting at least a band-aid.

Kerry originally signed up for the Navy to avoid combat zones. He got reassigned to swift boats, where he got busy collecting injuries to get back out (in about 3 months).

Bush became a fighter pilot and flew F-102 interceptor missions. The F-102 was a hazardous plane to fly. His squadron was not assigned to Vietnam as some other F-102s were.

I think Kerry got called a 'wimp' for such actions as throwing somebody else's medals over the White House fence and using fake 'veterans' to testify and generate resentment against the war effort. He did not behave with honor and was therefore scorned by those who believe in integrity, especially in the military.

Kerry's actions were apparently part of Communist Vietcong's strategy to demoralize and defeat America from within. After the war, the Communist commanders made this clear and hung a picture of Kerry in their war museum.
Reply:You ask too many questions. You'll be in the minus

category soon. Some people get purple hearts on

purpose, like standing up when the enemy is shooting

at you instead of staying low in your bunker. I think he

got a splinter in his finger and cried out to get to the

military hospital. Poor Kerry, he really is a wimp.
Reply:Republicans have lied about and attacked brave men like Kerry, John McCain, Max Cleland, and John Murtha among others.

They tried to claim that Murtha didn't earn his Purple Hearts too.

Right wing pukes are fat mouth cowards. That's all there is to it.
Reply:kerry has 3 purple hearts , and maybe this is why they call him a wimp

A number of the combat commanders, fellow officers and other men who served with Sen. John Kerry in Vietnam have challenged his accounts of combat heroism in a new book, "Unfit for Command"

"In the history of Swift Boats in Vietnam, all military personnel served a tour of duty of at least one year unless seriously wounded. Among the few exceptions was John Kerry, who requested to leave Vietnam in 1969 after four months, citing a regulation that permitted release of personnel with three Purple Hearts...None of Kerry's three Purple Hearts was for serious injuries. They were minor scratches, resulting in no lost duty time.

Each of these decorations is controversial, with considerable evidence (and in two cases, incontrovertible and conclusive evidence) that the injuries were caused BY HIS OWN HAND and not the result of hostile fire. "
Reply:ROTFLOL!!!! My buddy was on one of those "ships" that was in the Delta Cong, or where ever it was, and "saw" Kerry shooting, and tossing grenades, and got shrapnel wounds from it! In fact, he witnessed Kerry taking off, when he thought they were under fire!!!

In fact, he thought it was halarious, that Kerry even "got" a purple heart!!! It was a travesty of justice, he claims.

So, dont give me that silliness about a purple heart, Kerry didnt have the guts to be a good commander of a PT Boat. He was there along for the ride, expending ammunition like the rest of the gang was.

I wish you well..

Jesse
Reply:Because they are Zombies to everything that Rove tells them.
Reply:Kerry? The Hanoi traitor who is in their war hall of fame?

Liberals are the friends of communists, that's why they call Kerry a "war hero".

Kerry is absurd. He "served" 2 months, "earned" purple hearts with his self-inflicted wounds and had more videos of himself "fighting" than an entire brigade in their entire tour. Kerry should have been hung for treason.
Reply:Because Kerry wants to run from the terrorists and ask other governments before we can defend our country. Kerry was once a man but now he is the biggest coward.
Reply:As usual the Republicans dirty tricks of 2004 election and the war record of Kerry was used against him and attacks on the loyalty of Max Clevlend show how low the Republicans will go in the gutter of politics.
Reply:Don't stereotype. I'm not a republican and I thought Kerry was a wimp. I have very leftist ideas. Doesn't mean I support Bush either. I know a bad candidate when I see one and it angers me that the best the democratic party could come up with to fight a fool like George Bush was John Kerry. Seriously. All of you anti-Bush people yell and moan and whine but in the end... you weren't able to get someone better than him.... If he was he woulda been elected. Don't even whine about a conservative conspiracy either.

Both sides suck. Democrats are lost and clueless, Conservatives are closed-minded.
Reply:Maybe because his 3 "war wounds" were covered by two bandaids, one of the wounds he caused himself, and one of the medals he applied for himself after his commanding officer deemed it unworhty.
Reply:If George Bush had recommended himself for purple hearts like Kerry did (from self inflicted wounds), he would also have some.

Just a note: when you ask a question, and your sentence has two parts, you might consider using a semicolon between them. When the next sentence starts, consider punctuating. It helps anyone trying to answer and makes you look more intelligent. For example, "Why do republicans call Kerry a wimp; he has two purple hearts." How many does Bush have?" OR, you could say, "Why do republicans call Kerry a wimp? He has two purple hearts. How many does Bush have?" I'm sure you'll be more clear in future questions.
Reply:Because they see him and he doesnt speak like a strong leader. I havent heard them call him a wimp. I have heard them question his milatary record though.
Reply:HAA HAA. lol omg, guy above you have to be Shîting me. Bush had to fly a hazerdus plane. BUAHHAAHH hes a fúckin deserter. communism aint that bad people. they dont tourture other people at least

Will the military kick you out for testing positive for THC?

I don't need to hear all of anyones dumb comments. Just facts please. It is not me anyway, it is my battle buddy and after serving three tours in Iraq and sadly earning a purple heart I think it is fine if he smokes every now and again. I just want to know if they will boot im out if he tests positive for THC.

Please...answer only if you KNOW!

Will the military kick you out for testing positive for THC?
They could but if they don't they will make his life miserable for a while. Just remember, "If ya gotta play then ya gotta pay". Too late to worry now he just needs to man up and take what ever they give him!
Reply:I think it depends on his record, any negative actions taken prior to coming up hot, superiors views, if his commander thinks he's worth saving. I've seen Privates come up hot and get booted, then NCO's get popped with a slap on the wrist. Personally, I think the NCO's should be booted just for setting a bad example. Simply no excuse for the guys who enforce the standards to be caught breaking them. Bottom line, if your buddy is smoking pot, I would personally try to lead him to preemptive treatment. He will eventually get caught. Also, if he gets caught, he can kiss any security clearance, or chance of, goodbye. Bad career move over-all.
Reply:Yes, but not until after they are done making you miserable. They are not going to tell you, "You tested positive so you're fired". Oh no, they got a whole lot of stuff for you to do while your paperworks snails it's way though the stamping stations.
Reply:Yes, there is zero-tolerance drug policy. The only way a person can test positive for THC and not be processed out is if he has been taking a prescription medicine that contains THC, such as acne medication. If someone has such a prescription, they have to notify the authorities that are conducting the urinalysis testing that the time, not later on.
Reply:Not the first time. He will probably get a Company Grade Article 15. He'll loose rank and pay and do alot of extra duty. They will make it pretty impossible for him to get back to where he is today.

From my experience in the military, once a person was demoted for smoking pot, they kept smoking it and got caught again. Usually when you get caught a second time you can expect to be discharged. The type of discharge will depend on how the commander feels that day.

My advise would be to not smoke it period. Regardless if he has a purple heart or not, there are still rules that he must follow. He can wait until he ETS's to do what he wants. He has to remember, he is still under oath.

Good Luck.....RAKKASAN
Reply:It really depends on the chain of command. Although you are supposed to be kicked out when you test hot, some chain of commands look over it if the soldier is a "good soldier". More than likely they will get kicked out though.
Reply:Not the first time! lol. Usually only repeat offenders get kicked out after they fail what's called ADAPC. Alcohol/Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. I think its called something different now. Once someone comes up hot or gets a DUI they are "sentenced" to this program. If they fail they get chaptered out under ADAPC Failure.
Reply:My ex-husband was, after they used him so it can be done. They might demote him first.
Reply:No No No
Reply:The navy has a Zero Tolerance Policy. Popping on a P. test and getting a DUI are 2 TOTALLY different things. I've seen quite a few of my friends and acquaintances shown the back door after failing a urinalysis. Whether in home port or on a cruise, they did restriction 1st (most of them 30 and 30, which is 30 miserable days of being restricted to the boat making 6 musters a day and 30 days of extra duty, which is usually stripping and waxing some P-way for the 9 millionth time!). After restriction comes out processing with a dishonorable discharge. My 8 years in the Navy, I NEVER saw someone stay active duty after failing a test.
Reply:Yes. My buddy tested positive one time. He smoked while on leave. Article 15. 4 months locked up. Reduction to E1 and suspended pay while in jail. Once out, he was outprocessed and sent home.

If your bud pops positive, he can kiss his career goodbye.

Why will my rank in Battlefield 2 not go up?

In my online account in BF2 I am a private first class with more than 600 points, a purple heart, basic command, basic first aid, and basic support for awards. The progress towards next rank has been full for ages it seems, but I can't rank up to Lance Corporal. Was I just not on a ranked server?

Why will my rank in Battlefield 2 not go up?
Give EA some time up update your stats. But if you still dont get promoted, you should play on different ranked servers. If it still doesn't work, try playing on a Special Forces server and see if that works.
Reply:It depends on how long you have been ranked up. If its been about a day or two, just give it a little while as the BFHQ (Battlefield Headquarters) needs to update. One way to always make sure you're getting points is to check the box in Server Filters, when picking a game, that says "Ranked". This way you will always be going towards your next rank.
Reply:Thats what it was I'm sure of it! Try just add a ranked server to your favorites list so when ever you want to rank up just go to your favorites and it will be there.

Anyone here who have seen the romantic movie "PURPLE HEARTS? What can you say about it?

What can you say about this movie?

By the way, it was filmed in the philippines starring farrah fawcett

Anyone here who have seen the romantic movie "PURPLE HEARTS? What can you say about it?
I can not say much really. But Farrah is not doing so well since the incident/accident of 1998. 2006 has been difficult for many of us (although not for me - so far it is great). For Farrah, it has meant the loss of her mother, of her agent Jay and of her mentor Aaron Spelling.

How can a civilian honor a service member?

I've seen vets or other current servicemen and women saluting others in passing one another, especially if they are higher ranks or a purple heart recipient.

I'm a civilian... how can I show honor to a serviceman, woman, or vet when passing them?

I just don't feel that saluting them would be entirely appropriate since I haven't served. I'd probably make it look silly too. :)

How can a civilian honor a service member?
The best way would be to go to the American legion everynow and then and just tell the brave warriors from the past and present thankyou. People tell me thankyou all the time makes me feel good makes me feel like the people are behind me.
Reply:Walk up to him/her and thank them for their service to our country.
Reply:looks unanimous...shake a hand and say thank you...we're glad you're home safe.
Reply:just by speaking we are proud of the hard work you are doing....thank you.......and we love you.....
Reply:Say "Thank you for your service". I do this on a regular basis. Most really appreciate it, and it makes me feel good. We should all do this, regardless of how we feel about the war, because these people have offered to die for us and our freedom, ie. our country!
Reply:IF YOU SEE THEM WALKING DOWN THE STREET JUST STOP THEM AND SHAKE THEIR HAND. AND TELL THEM THANK YOU FOR A JOB WELL DONE.I WISH THEY DID THAT TO US DURING THE VIET NAM WAR.IT WOULD MEAN A LOT TO A SERVICE MAN OR WOMEN.GOD BLESS AMERICA.
Reply:There are things I could mention that would get my answer reported (if you feel THAT strongly about it), or you could just say "Thank You". For most, that's more than enough.
Reply:You are absolutely correct. Just smile and say hello.
Reply:Shake their hand and say Thank You!

When John Kerry was awarded 3 purple hearts, where did Bush spend his AWOL time?

When McCain was in a POW camp, where was Clinton?

When John Kerry was awarded 3 purple hearts, where did Bush spend his AWOL time?
Probably with Wille Clinton since he had his mom write a letter for him keeping him out
Reply:Stop taking bad about this people.
Reply:Do a little research on Hanoi Johns purple hearts. Two of them were minor scratches that did'nt even warrant medical attention, the other was a little bit of shrapnel that kept him on light duty for two days. He put himself in for those awards and they went through. He only spent four months in Vietnam than came home and slammed his fellow soldiers. Some hero.
Reply:Wow... 3 purple hearts so "Paper Cut Kerry" could finish his tour after 4 months, none bad enough to be hospitalized and self inflicted to boot. He was told to take a hike by other officers when he asked them to submit paperwork to get them. Kerry just did it himself. Kerry couldnt even drive a boat correctly. Bush flew jets. Dummies cant fly jets, skippy!
Reply:CHI guy is back. Take your mean pills today?

While Kerry was standing with that treasonous pig Jane Fonda, bad mouthing the country, I think George Bush was serving in the Nations Guard flying F-105 fighters.
Reply:Does anyone know exactly how Kerry got those 3 Purple Hearts?

Oh yeah, the men who served with him do!

http://www.swiftvets.com/index.php
Reply:I'm more concerned with the time Kerry spent with Hanoi Jane than about Bush's so called AWOL time which was proved on here not to be true.
Reply:I believe he was flying a jet for the military.
Reply:He spent his time flying the F-102 interceptor. An aircraft best known for its high rate of crashes. Bush also voluteered for F-100D. A job that would have given him a tour in Vietnam. Oh and there is some doubt about kerry's Purple hearts, At least 2 may have been self inflicted.
Reply:At a "whites-only" apartment complex.
Reply:Was that before or after Cambodia,or before he (Kerry) was C.I.A..Now did he serve yes did he deserve the p/h not really.I 've never heard of self applying for a p/h(Kerry did).

Did Kerry really get a film crew to reenact his battles,YES He did.How many other Presidential Candidates have a plaque in North Vietnam (Other than Kerry)

Stop believing the Lie's.We all know who the sheeple is..

Hey do you believe that Lincoln freed the slaves just to have bigger army,I've heard that so it must be true!!!!(From a lefty)

I'll be praying for you...
Reply:Kerry didnt receive his purple hearts until he applied for them half a dozen times, he had time on his hands since he was only over in vietname for 4 months and was sitting in safety repeatedly applying for awards until he got them.

By the time he got the awards neither one of them was in the military.

His first purple heart he got a scratch on his arm from from a bullet casing of their own, no one even fired at them.

Next two purple hearts also very minor wounds he didnt miss more than some time to put a bandaid on.
Reply:I always hate when people question Kerry's military record. Kerry was in Vietnam with the REST OF US. He has a nice piece of shrapnel in his left leg to prove it. Bush was in Crawford, Texas snorting cocaine with his daddy's money.
Reply:drunk in Alabama

Give Kerry a break, at least his body was in VietNam, can't you give him at least that. Why do I get the feeling that if Kerry came home in wheelchair you would say that shot himself in the leg to get home early
Reply:3 purple hearts and not 1 day in the hospital Amazing!
Reply:He can't recall, and I believe him!
Reply:Liv'in it up somewhere of course, laughing all the way.
Reply:I think he was cheerleading or something.. maybe just hiding out at the ranch...
Reply:I'm willing to give heavy odds that it was in a bar.
Reply:in a dark alley doing a line of coke.
Reply:Ask the DC Madam.
Reply:On a bar stool. Bush can't recall his first 40 year!!
Reply:I wonder if people know that Nixon had Kerry slandered because of the impact he was having at anti-war rallies?

Bush was in Crawford, boozing it up and doing lines off the coffee table.

Why was John Kerry able to nurse the wounds he received in vietnam with band aids, yet received purple hearts?

Why do Conservatives constantly attack our Soldiers who have served our Country? So much for "supporting the troops".

Why was John Kerry able to nurse the wounds he received in vietnam with band aids, yet received purple hearts?
He complained for 2 years. That's how he is able to say he recieved them. he acted like a 2 year old until he got what he wanted.
Reply:Most of the medals that John Kerry received were awarded

to him by recommendation of HIMSELF, he wanted to be

a war hero. If you look at the number of medals that he

won (yeah, right) he would be the most decorated person

in the military in the history of the United States.

Yet when he returns from Vietnam and while we still have

men being held as POW's he testified against those men

causing more additional torture to the POW;s

He is a Fraud
Reply:Why are cons like you so lame as to even bring John Kerry up?

He is history... leave it alone.. are you really that desperate to switch attention form you do nothing, good for nothing president?
Reply:Your question is a lie.

He never did any such thing.

And neither was a 20yr old soldier able to award himself medals.

or any of the other crap you and Swift Boat accused him of.
Reply:It's hard to get bandaids to stick on your behind, too!
Reply:For awhile, you could get a purple heart if you cut yourself shaving.

Think of Max Clellan and I'll show you a person who deserves a purple heart.
Reply:Hey whatever - at least he didn't spend the war sitting in a bar snorting coke like someone we all know!
Reply:Because Bush was doing a bang up job guarding the Gulf of Mexico from the Vietnamese during this time.
Reply:One of his terrible wounds was a splinter, waste of a medal huh?
Reply:The same way he was later able to throw "his" medals over the fence in protest, yet still have them! Through deceit!

There are a few cases, mostly Filipinos, that are eligible for Veterans Affairs help. Contact the V.A. or your nearest US Consulate. There will probably be no pension, but they may help medically IF the problem is related to your service, not just getting old or sick.

How do I get Celia to like me on Harvest Moon DS?

I gave her cake and went to this sight that said all these things to do like black heart and all of those how do i et her to have a purple heart or to like me??? HELP!!!

How do I get Celia to like me on Harvest Moon DS?
-give her gifts, every gift will give a different LP, cake is the best because it gives 800 LP

just give her gift once a day, since the another gift wont affect her LP anymore, just FP

-Talk to her once a day, 200 LP

-Grows some crops and ship it, buy seed from Vesta Farm, it'll randomly increase her affection for every certain numbers of crops shipped

-Answer right in her heart event, 3000LP

LP=Love Points, maximal is 65.535 (Red)

FP=Friendship Points, Maximal is 255

every stage of color in her heart requires 10.000LP

Never littering since it drops every girl affection and fp for everytime you litter

when you got 60.000LP, she's already in red

and heart events can only activated for every colors stated or above

Black, Celia at least in Black or Higher

Purple, Celia at least in Purple or Higher

Blue Celia at least in Blue or Higher

Yellow, Celia at least in Yellow or Higher

» Blue Bar

» 6:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday, rainy day

Walk into the Blue Bar and Muffy is glad to see you! She and Griffin have received a note from the phantom-their, Skye. He is going to stop by their bar around 12:00 am to have a drink. Muffy is a little impressed that he felt confident enough to send them a notice ahead of time, although she has no plans on giving him any of their money. Muffy asks if you'll help them catch their phantom, so let them know you'll assist (手伝う) and Griffin will ask that you come back to the bar between 10:00 pm and 12:00 am.

Return to the bar at the designated time and you'll see that Skye hasn't appeared yet. Suddenly the 3 of you start to smell the fragrance of... curry! Muffy and Griffin exit the bar to investigate, and as they leave Skye sneaks in. He notices that you are where he is again and wonders if it's destiny that you two keep running into each other. If you ask him about destiny (運命かな?), Skye will chuckle and likes to hear such things from a beautiful maiden. He then decides to force you to be obedient!

Skye uses his Maiden Chick Beam and suddenly you can't move! He says you'll be able to move again after an hour so don't worry. While Skye begins to rummage through the bar's bottles, ask him why he theives (なぜ怪盗をするの?). Skye only laughs at your question and continues to snoop through the bar. Demand to know why he enjoys his villanary (ただのゆかい犯?) and Skye will stop and teasingly wonder if you might have a point. He shrugs off your question and says it's trivial to to teach him the right way. Skye challenges you by suggesting if you can catch him, perhaps you can teach him.

Muffy and Griffin can't find the source of the curry smell so they are returning to the bar. Skye hears them coming and knows he's out of time. He sneaks out just as Muffy and Griffin return. Muffy is angry to know that the thief showed up anyway. She does some checking and notices that their Okuhattan (one of their drinks) is missing. You were trapped by the Maiden Chick Beam and couldn't help, and she apologizes for leaving you all alone. Griffin thanks you anyway.

You need to have 10,000 - 29,999 LP to trigger the event.

Also if you give him Finest Curry you will earn 800 Lp for him.

Finest Curry= Rainbow Curry + White Curry + burnt Frypan dish + burnt Pot dish + burnt Oven dish + burnt Mixer dish + burnt Steamer dish + burnt No Utensil dish

hope that helps!

Reply:There appears to be a disconnect in the information your provided. If yours is a service-connect disability ratable at 50% you should have appeared before a medical evaluation board, followed by a "records-only" appearance before a physical evaluation board and a transfer to the disability retired list under the provisions flowing out of Title 10 of United States Code. Not a "medical discharge" and receipt of disability payment from the VA flowing out of Title 38 United States Code. In short, it's apples and oranges.

Anyone with a ratable disability of 30% or more which is service-connected (3 years or more active duty is a presumption of service connection) and identified during one's term of service is one which requires transfer to the disability list. Especially if it is related to a period of service in which you were "federalized" and mobilized.

Where can I donate toys in the Downriver Detroit MI area?

What is the procedure? Can I just walk into a Salvation Army or other goodwill store and hand over boxes? I'm used to donating clothes to Purple Heart, but they pick everything up. Any ideas other than goodwill stores are appreciated too!

Where can I donate toys in the Downriver Detroit MI area?
Toys for Tots is over, so please skip your second answer. The drop off for most Salvation Army's and Goodwill's donations are in the back of the stores. If you want to claim your donations on your taxes be sure to get a reciept. Hope this helps.
Reply:Maybe your local shopping center or downtown area has a Toys for Tots place.
Reply:Depends if you are talking about new toys for the Toys for Tots, you should be able to find a drop box just about anywhere. The local police station is a good start.

If you are talking about used toys try the Saint Vincent de Paul on Telegraph in Flat Rock. The week before Christmas, thier store had a major fire and took everything so they are in desperate need of items. The new location is on Telegraph between Vreeland %26amp; Gibralter Roads in the old Kmart Complex.

Or there is a Salvation Army thrift store (I think Salvation Army) on Eureka just west of Trenton Road, next to Toys R Us.

Hope this helps!
Reply:Most churches, homeless shelters, police stations, goodwill stores are more than willing to accept donations of any form and much appreciate the thoughtfulness to share with those in need!

Thanks for your act of kindness!

As Commander in Chief in fighting this war in Iraq, Should Bush be awarded purple hearts.l?

Seriously think of all those slings and arrows he takes daily from the press and the democrats. I'd want a medal for all that grief.

As Commander in Chief in fighting this war in Iraq, Should Bush be awarded purple hearts.l?
All the slings and arrows daily are called democrat propaganda, and the Democrats are the reason some people have their head stuck in sand, do not want to believe the real truth about terrorist and the war. I think Bush deserves not only a medal for being brave against the terrorist, but also a medal for having to put up with democrats and their media friends propaganda.

If you award President Bush with the purple

heart.. it would be the only heart that he has.
Reply:his popularity ratings certainly deserve a purple heart. the American people who have endured his stupidity and bad judgment deserve a purple heart. but i don't think g.w. deserves anything except a wake-up call. i voted for him twice but i guess hindsight is always 20-20

Why does everyone regret blaming voting for Bush when he in fact was better than Al gore and Kerry?

Al gore is a crook and Kerry,,"Just looked presidential" Kerry got in trouble during nominations for saying he has a purple heart. The government said he couldn't say that because he shot himself in the foot to leave the war!LOL

Why does everyone regret blaming voting for Bush when he in fact was better than Al gore and Kerry?
I agree.. Bush isn't as bad as everone makes him out to be. Think about it this way.. If Kerry were president right now.. We would have homosexual weddings, abortions would REALLY be used as birth control, and only God knows how the situation with terrorism would be.

Did he really shoot himself in the foot? That is freakin hilarious!!

Vote McCain!!

Reply:Even if your accusations agains Kerry or Gore were in the slightest way true, they totally ignore any real issue. You need to pull your head out of the stinky, warm hole it is in and think about what bush has done for the country with his policies that have our great country into the ground. No one but oil companies and the weathly have benfited under his inept reign. I doubt you fall into that category, and are one of those"bitter" amercicans who has to blame democrats for your lame excuse of a life

Heart tattoo, easy points?

me and my best friend are gettting matching heart tattoos on our lower stomach hip areas. do you think a solid really dark purple heart would be cute? or if not, what color do you think?

and please don't start telling me not to get it there and are you sure i wanna get it, because i'm sure. hah

Heart tattoo, easy points?
yeah with shading to make it look 3d or get them in different colors
Reply:Hey a purple heart sounds great!! Its like when you get wounded in battle..like when your best friend sleeps with your boyfriend or something. Alls fair in love and war!
Reply:Purple would be cool with yellow highlights
Reply:i think u should get red heart with black background.....sexy
Reply:that sounds fine
Reply:You should get a purple heart and it says best or friend and then when you guys are together it will say best friends!n Or red and a black outliner!
Reply:I like justcurious' idea. But you could also try pink and tiny silver stars around it? Lol, that'll be cool :) :)
Reply:purple, as you get older is gunna change colors to maybe a brown or a black, why not just get black, or if you have the right skin type you could do white ink its really pretty on some skin types.
Reply:I am getting a heart tattoo, when im old enough, on my lower left hip and its going to be like a hot pink or light pink. I think thats cool that you and your best friend are going to get matching ones but you should do it like different colors to express your different types of personalitys.
Reply:well, I would do whatever you two decide on... and have fun with it. Tattoos are great! I have a ton of them.

Now, the voice of reason, because I feel obligated. First, that area is one of the most sensitive, and painful. I have tattoos all across my hips/stomach, and they were very uncomfortable. The experience is different for everyone, so for you it could be fine, or excruciating.

Secondly, matching tattoos, while fun and meaningful, can backfire. I got matching tattoos with my best friend in the world. We were so close people actually thought we were a couple. And now, now we don't talk and I'm spending thousands of dollars to get the tattoos removed from my body. Please just think long and hard about it.

NOW... go get your ink, have fun, and make sure it's exactly what you want, becuase it costs (and hurts) way more to get them off!
Reply:cute!
Reply:Purple should be fine but I think pink would be even better if you're going for a valentine style heart.

What are some symbols of bravery?

I heard the purple heart was, but I'm not sure.

Anything else? Something preferably that can be turned into an object, like the purple heart. You can just have a heart that's colored purple.

Ideas, comments, answering about the purple heart would all be good! Thanks!

What are some symbols of bravery?
The lion has always been a symbol of courage and bravery, crests are also used and shields are universal symbols for courage on the battlefield and therefore in life.
Reply:Bravery: lion, tiger, praying mantis, black poplar, black agate, bull, carp, Iron cross, larch, Medal of Honor, eagle, griffin, falcon, salamander, ram, and the wolf.
Reply:The Purple Heart is actually awarded to soldiers who are wounded in the course of carrying out their duties in a time of war.
Reply:Firefighters.

Does anyone know the truth about how John Kerry got those purple hearts?

Scratched knees....??

Does anyone know the truth about how John Kerry got those purple hearts?
self inflicted wounds, the only smart thing about Kerry was he knew that three purple hearts and your out. He served a total of four months and has been bashing the troops ever since!

Ask me later it is a long story. But for a start remember he was a rich frat boy in the Navy.
Reply:He was in one of those little booths in a x-rated video store in Saigon. When he was finished and leaving he slipped on the slippery stuff of the floor and hit his head. Hasn't been right since!
Reply:This always raises an interesting question or two. Like if it was so easy for Kerry to cheat and get his Purple Hearts, are the rest of them worth anything? And, if he was only scratched then should we only honor people hurt by better shots?

It is truly shameful that in their haste to destroy Kerry the Swiftboaters called into question the bravery of so many other fine men who weren't seriously injured, but were nonetheless injured by enemy fire. That will go down as one of the meanest charges ever made against an opponent in a political battle.

Kerry was there, when Bush was in Texas, and Cheney "had other things to do". Anyone who was there was a hero because no one was ever as safe as someone stateside.
Reply:He stole them from wounded Americans who deserved them!
Reply:This is ridiculous. the man fought in a war. He was injured. As far as I'm concerned, ANY veteran that represented our country with honor should get a purple heart. If you don't agree with what he is today, fine. But, don't insult his veteran status, cause at least he was there.
Reply:How many do you have?

A small piece of shrapnel in his arm. Small injuries, yet those in service today does not qualify for the bronze star that do their full missions.
Reply:Interesting that conservatives make a big deal about his Purple Hearts, but never point out that they were received on his *2nd* tour in Vietnam - a tour he'd volunteered for.
Reply:A little scratch on his forearm got him one purple heart.

One was due to an accidental scratch, and was dressed with a band-aid.
Reply:Apparently you support only Veterans who aren't Democrats? Say what you want, but John Kerry went to Vietnam when many others didn't(including President Bush %26amp; VP Cheney). Shouldn't we honor ALL veterans? People too many times say they support veterans and then decide which veterans were "honorable"????
Reply:He applied for each. You could request discharge if you got three purple hearts.
Reply:Read the Swiftboat Veterans book about John Kerry. It goes into great detail about Kerry's phony military record.

Did you know he was stripped of those medals and dishonorably discharged for approaching the Vietnamese and telling them not to surrender as he and his liberal buddies were close to getting the US to pull out?

Another traitor....Jimmy Carter, reinstated his commission and his medals at a later date as part of a presidential pardon to various people like Kerry.
Reply:you know what??? it doesnt matter if he was only there for 3 months.....you guys are saying crap like 3 months?? oh he is my hero...not, AT LEAST HE HAD THE BRAVERY TO GO OVER THERE!!!!!!! unlike some one else who started a big mess of a war where thousands of soilders have lost there life due to his personal vindeta against iraq....yeah thats right im talking about bush wake up people and smell the LIES!!!! bush told us 3 years ago we are making progress....if blowing up innocent civilians is progress then someone needs there head checked, you get purple hearts in war not just for injury but for looking out for others needs before your own, my uncle fought for you over in iraq and he got a purple heart and you know how he got it?? BECUASE HE REFUSED MEDICL ATTENTION until he knew everyone else around him was going to be alright....so to the guy that posted this.....how many purple hearts do you have???? how many times a day do you think about whats more important that he got this many purple hearts......or that he got them defending stupid idiots like YOU!
Reply:He bought them at an estate sale.
Reply:The conservatives responses are typical.

I suppose you're gonna start bashing Kevin Tillman now...

Reply:One of them was due to the fact he shot into a rice bin and a rice kernel hit him in the butt.Whaaaaaaaaaa
Reply:What a typical conservative attack. Baseless and pointless.
Reply:Funny...I hear this same stuff at work...from a bunch of punks who never served. He served, you don't get to judge his service. Of course, it doesn't match up with the heroism needed to have your daddy and granddaddy get you out of Vietnam, in to some safe National Guard posting, for which you then fail to show up. I'm sure flying to Mexico to pick up coke and hookers has it's own danger.
Reply:He earned them. At least he wasn't a deserter!!

I talked to the person who was blown into the water that Kerry pulled out, why don't you ask him! He was there and he will tell you!

By the way, ever been in combat! Ever been on a River Boat in Vietnam? You would not last 1 day! Their mission was to draw enemy fire! How would you like that mission!

Leave him alone you fascist!

Amazing how many people stick up for a deserter!

I have 2 Purple Heart's! Every time you question 1 about theirs you denigrate the rest of us you coward! There are a THOUSANDS of people who earned Purple Hearts. Many of my friends have them, one marine I know has 4!

That is a sore subject for those who were in Vietnam! I would appreciate it if you haven't been their and you have no real evidence other than that made up by Republicans, if you would just keep you bidg trap shut!

One thing is for sure, you don't have one or your mouth would not be flapping!!

You don't get Bronze Stars for doing what you are suppose to do! And you damn sure don't get one with A "V" device (for Valor) without doing something above anfd beyond!

How little you people know! But you think you know!

Shrapnel is one of the leading causes of death, expecially from IED's! Thousands in Iraq have been killed by IED's! The rule to recieve a Prurple Heart is you had to be engaged with, or the wound was caused by an enemy in combat! The injury has to be serious enough to have to be treated by an MD! The drawback there was, many were hit by shrapnel and treated by corpsman, who were trained enough to remove shrapnel if not life threatening! There are many of us who still walk around with shrapnel in their bodies!

If you really want to get technical, we are not at a state of war with Iraq, and Iraqi's are not the enemy, nor are they terrorist! Do you think those that are killed or wounded by people we are not at war with deserve a Purple Heart?

That's right, Pat Tillman has a Purple Heart and he was killed by his own troops! Going to take it away? Going to dinegrate him as well?

Heart decal?

I've seen these purple heart-shaped decals on cars recently that say "sydney" on them...does anyone know what cause/event these are for?

Heart decal?
No, but purple hearts are synonomous with military war injuries received in battle. Perhaps it is a local fellow named Sydney used as a fund raiser to help support him now. I haven't seen any around my way.

Will anyone buy this besides a junk yard?

I have a 2001 oldsmobile alero with about 130K miles on it. About a month ago I found out I blew the head gasket and was told it could be fixed but that it would be pricey and eventually I would have to also replace the bottome of the engine and then whateva else was found wrong with the car. I was told it would be cheaper to find another used car but what should i do with this one.

Should I attempt to sell it and if so what would be a good price for it. The car also has a small dent on the front end and needs a new tire. If i decided to junk it, would i get money for it, or would i be better off donating it to purple heart or some place like that?

Will anyone buy this besides a junk yard?
You won't get much from the junk yard. They never pay much for cars working or not.

You might be able to get a few hundred dollars from a third party. Try advertising it on http://www.craigslist.org

Let the person know that the car has a blown head gasket. Many people see their non-working cars between $300-$500 selling them for parts.

If you do the write off, donating a vehicle can allow you to write off about the same amount on your Schedule A. If you don't itemize, then there's no place to actually take the deduction.
Reply:you might get more money from the junkyard if it does not run than donating it. but its usually easier to get the motor by itself and replace that than fixing the head gasket on some vehicles.
Reply:I would really be interested in hearing why the bottom end is bad?

That doesn't make any sense based upon what you have told us.

For a head gasket to blow one of 3 things has to happen.

1. The gasket simply fails. Not likely

2. The motor was bad all along. Not likely

3. The motor overheated enough to cause the head to warp. Likely.

The fix is expensive because of all the crap that has to come off. So the question is simple, is it cheaper to fix the motor, or buy a new car. Almost always cheaper to repair provided there isn’t anything else wrong.

I can not stress enough that saying the bottom end is bad sounds really suspect to me. My next question is the person saying that wanting to “help you out” by buying the thing off you so they could part it out or something?

Finally if you decide to sell do it on eBay and part it out. List the parts separately and slowly scrap it. It’ll be cheap and it won’t be that bad if you just pull parts here n there. You can also say you’ll sell the whole car after any auction if the price is right.
