There are things called Heart Events, which i think is what you are talking about. When her heart is purple, that means that she is starting to like you, the heart changes color as time goes on, when you give her gifts. After purple, it will turn to blue, then green, then yellow, then orange, and then finally red, which is when you can marry her. If you do not own one already, you should get a love bangle from the sprite's casino,. You have to exchange the medals for one, but then when you are wearing it, it shows you how much a person likes you, and you will be able to tell when the heart will change its colors!
