How do I erase everything from my computer?

I am getting rid of my computer for a new one. After I save all that I want, how do I destroy all memory that is stored on this computer. I do not want anyone to gather any information from the computer which I will donate to Purple Heart. Thanks.

How do I erase everything from my computer?
Go to http://download.com and get KILLDISK. It'll do the job!!! The free version only does three passes of encryption on C drive only. The paid version can be configured to what you want it to. After using KILLDISK there will be NOTHING left on the drive at all. It will be the next best thing to a new, never formatted disk.

GOOD LUCK!

If you just want to wipe the data quickly then you can boot to an XP install CD and when you get to the hard drive choices, choose the option to format the drive.

Now there are magnetic/FBI-type tools out there to boost the magnetic pickups and allow data to be read even from hard drives that have been formatted. If you have super top secret stuff on the drive then you'll have to pick up one of those hard drive "shredder" applications that will write 1's and 0's all the over the hard drive like 20 times.

You could leave the OS intact and just wipe the files, but that's your call.
Reply:Restart the computer I mean reboot.
