How can I find out any information about him and the medals?
My uncle received 2 purple hearts during WWII. He's gone and so are the medals.?

Reply:As a niece nothing that is not in public domain now.
The National Archives will provided limited info to sons, daughters, parents (direct family) you can try but but if he was in the Army the records all burned in 1973. Best you would get is a copy of the DD214 and that would tell you nothing you do not already know.
Reply:please try going through your county cvso or contact national military records on the computer and download a FORM 180 fill it out completely and send back if they have a copy of his dd 214 it will show what medals he recieved and also will replace the medals if their records show that he did in fact recieve these medals. good luck mr doodles
