I have grandson who is 35 weeks and was born via ceasarean section. He was diagnosed of having heart murmurs. He also sometimes turn purple when sucking his bottle but he is gaining weight though. He was just 6 more lbs when born but now that he is a month old, he now weighs 8lbs 7oz.
Why does a premature baby have a problem on heart murmurs?
My daughter was born at 23 weeks and 4 days. She had a heart murmur because there was a blood vessel off the side of her heart that normally closes at term but didn't close off because she was born so premature. That might have something to do with. A heart murmur is just an irregular heart beat so it could be a number of things. As far as the feeding thing is concerned that's pretty normal too. My daughter was in the NICU for 4 months and two days before she was supposed to be discharged, I was visiting and feeding her and she started choking and they had to postpone the discharge. He'll pull it together.

Reply:not only premmies have problems with heart murmurs.. All babies can have them. I know I did when I was born and my mom had me a couple weeks over due. I would have them talk to his doctor about the turning blue while eating his bottle. It sounds like he has a problem with breathing while eating..
Reply:its a matter of development. if he is premature often times the heart and lungs are not fully developed.
