Can you name anyone other than Kerry who got shot 3 times on 3 separate occasions and didn't have at least one of the wounds be serious?
What are the odds of that happening?
Is that man lucky or what?
Did Kerry Need 3 Waivers to Get Purple Hearts for Self-Inflicted Scartches?
He didn't get shot. Not once. It's even questionable whether all of his scratches were received from enemy fire. One incident is known to be the result of his own actions as rice became flak when he was standing too close to a cache of rice that he, himself, was blowing up.
Problem is, we'll never know for certain since Kerry has never consented to having his service record released.
John Kerry's purple hearts have confused my kids. They asked me once, "Dad, I thought the purple heart was supposed to be a really high honor." I tried to explain that it was, just behind the bronze star in order of merit. But what John Kerry did through his manipulation of the system was to devalue this high honor for all of those who rightly deserve it.
Reply:Why don't you just explain to your kids that you hate war heroes because _______ and then tell them why you think that American patriotism is a bad thing. Report It
Reply:Just because he is a war hero does not make him a liar. He is still carrying around the shrapnel for God's sake. How much shrapnel are you carrying around? How many times did you volunteer for dangerous missions in combat? Did you even ever serve your country, or are you a Republican? Report It
Reply:Kerry was on dangerous volunteer duty piloting a small boat along the Mekong Delta. At the time he did his 49 missions, the odds of survival were about 60%. He was shot several times.. Perhaps the Navy, was handing out Purple Hearts for wounds that did not require amputations or brain surgery, but that does not diminish his brave service. If he had wanted, he could have gotten a deferment to go to law school like Giuliani or he could have served weekends in a National Guard unit which was guaranteed never to be deployed to Vietnam, like Bush. However, Kerry actually wanted to fight for America so he enlisted in the Navy.
Reply:Apparently you can't name anyone, either. He still has some off the shrapnel inside of him.
Love the respect that righties give our decorated war heroes, but what else can one expect from the chickenhawk brigade.
Reply:I'm sorry.....I do not know what SCARTCHES are, but Kerry did serve our country.
I do know that Rush Limbaugh got out of his military service because of an anal fistula, though.
.
Reply:Very unlikeley and that is why many of his fellow vietnam vets have spoken out against him- Many believe his service was all part of a plan to give credibility to the anti war movement- How many people knew of the three purple hearts and go home rule? How many people managed to benefit from it? Something is very fishy. Regardless of how real or fake his injuries were, there are few people who are less respected among veterans especially vietnam veterans and that says something.
Reply:According to conservatives, only patrio-fascists and nazis get real war wounds. Yet none of them have the balls to serve in the military.
Reply:Not only does the GOP attack John Kerry, but by ridiculing the notion of getting wounded in combat, he/she/it insults all veterans and heroes. And on Veterans Day.
Another example of the moral abyss that is the Republican party.
Reply:Why isn't there any film footage of his wounds, considering the guy had his own personal film crew following him around...
I'll bet he once said, 'when I grow up, I want to be JFK'
Reply:Can I name someone? No, because I don't think such information is available. Were many Purple Hearts awarded for non-life threatening injuries? Yes, without a doubt. Are there many soldiers who were awarded three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star? There probably are, but I know of no others who are still having their service questioned.
Reply:Apparently, he wasn't as smart as Bush and Cheney who managed to avoid any kind of military service. The phony National Guard duty Bush is alleged to have done doesn't count as service, unless you count the asss-kissing Bush family did to keep their prodigal son out of harm's way.
Reply:how unamerican to insult a veteran. at least he served....
Reply:Actually he didn't get shot, they were all minor cuts and/or wounds requiring no medical attention.
According to statements of the mission commander and the men on the boat "Kerry fired a grenade launcher too close to the shore and when it exploded, a piece of shrapnel from the grenade came back and hit him in the arm.
The circumstances remain obscure, as there are no written records of this award on file at the Naval Historical Center. Various other documents that might shed light on this award remain unavailable due to Senator Kerry's refusal to release his complete military records.
Military regulations state that to qualify for a Purple Heart, an injury must come "from an outside force or agent," and treatment for the wound must "have been made a matter of official record."
While John Kerry managed to satisfy the second criterion by insisting that an amused Dr. Letson provide an official Band-Aid, nicking himself with a fragment from his own poorly-aimed grenade fails to meet the first qualification.
Edit:
If one uses the system to get an award, it's an insult to service members who actually recieved wounds as a result of direct combat with the enemy.
