it is ironic that bush should receive a purple heart, as he could not earn one, having never seen combat. however, if the Viet Nam Era Veteran thought it to be a suitable gift to mr. bush for something that mr. bush had done on behalf of or in the interest of Veterans wounded in combat, then that would not be quite so ironic.
President Bush accepts a Purple Heart from a Vietnam vet. Is this ironic or what?
The answer is "or what" and another non issue that the left is worried about
Reply:You guys have no limits to what you will pervert! Even something like this, someone trying to do a genuinely nice thing and you find fault! How can you do that then say republicans aren’t compassionate?
Reply:In fairness, he didn't even know he was in the military...because of all the coke and booze.
Reply:The ironic thing about your question is that you never thought that Kerry didn't earn his 3 Purple Hearts, even though the doctor who "treated" him (put on a band-aid) said it was too superficial to even warrant mention.
At least Bush has the grace and humility to know he didn't earn it.
Reply:Nothing Ironic, I guess was it the only way you can craft a Hate Bush/Blame Bush question?
Here is the quote from the couple..
Thomas said he and his wife came up with the unprecedented idea to present the president with the Purple Heart over breakfast one morning a few months ago as they discussed the verbal attacks, both foreign and domestic, the commander in chief has withstood during his time in office."
I guess nothing is sacred when political Bias is on stage with the so called tolerant left..
Reply:What beautiful gesture.
I think that couple is right on the money.
Reply:Not ironic, and very touching. Leave it to you to soil a veteran's good works.
Reply:N O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:And your point is?
That Vet can give his medal(s) to anyone he wants for whatever reason. At least he knows that any thanks he got from the Commander in Chief was sincere.
Reply:ironic? Maybe... Odd? definately...
Well then again, before he was president he drank, was in the military, and was also having marriage issues. I think it should come as no suprise that he has another pro to equalize his cons.
Reply:It is a kind and sincere gesture that the vet chose to give his medal to his Commander In Chief. It is irony at best that his CIC is so far from worthy of that honor. However, it would have been very ungracious of him to refuse a gift of this magnitude.
None of us who have not served are worthy of receiving that tribute.
Reply:Ironic yes. Considering Bush stayed out of the Vietnam war by going AWOL.
Nice gesture by the vet. He still believes in his country after serving in Vietnam and after watching what America has become. He may have given Bush the medal because it didn't mean anything to him anymore for the same reasons.
Reply:Ironic only to those who sneer at gifts from veterans.
Reply:It will compliment his black heart.
Reply:Not as ironic as John Kerry throwing his purple hearts away in protest of the Vietnam War and then trying to use them decades later to boost is military cred in an election even though he no longer possessed the medals.
Reply:of course he didn't earn it...the dumb *** wasn't there
